明治時代的松江。松野時是沒落上級士族家的女兒，性子有些古怪，偏愛怪談。父親經商失利、家中日子過不下去之後，走投無路的她進了新到松江的外國英語教師家中當住家幫傭。這位生於希臘的愛爾蘭人幼時遭父母拋下，在親戚之間輾轉寄住，一路漂泊到日本。兩人起初苦於語言不通，後來發覺彼此境遇相似，便夜夜圍坐講起怪談。本劇是NHK晨間劇，共125集，以小泉八雲之妻小泉節子為原型，人物姓名與情節都經過改寫虛構。
兩處取景地該去的時段正好相反。宍道湖畔的岸公園只屬於日落時分。2025年12月26日播出的那場夕陽戲就在這裡拍攝，而松江的日落時刻一年之內可相差一個多小時，出發前查好當天的時間，提早半小時站到湖邊比較保險。八重垣神社則要趁白天去。即使是劇組拍攝的五月那種日照長的時節，鏡之池四周都是樹林，午後一斜就很快轉暗。神社位在市區南郊，岸公園在湖的東北岸，兩地之間靠公車或開車往返。上午看完神社回到市區，順路去松江市役所一樓的《怪談作家之妻》劇集展館（免費，9時至16時30分，開放至2027年3月31日），再趕在天光散盡前走到湖畔，一天的行程就順了。不少人會把松江城與小泉八雲舊居一起排進行程，但島根縣觀光聯盟把那些地方列為八雲夫婦生活往來的淵源之地，而非拍攝地。

八重垣神社 島根県松江市佐草町
Filmed here over two days, May 21 and 22, 2025. The Shimane Film Commission, run by the prefecture's tourism federation, announced the shoot, and the cast held a location report event in Matsue the next day. The shrine is known for matchmaking, and behind the main hall, in a grove, lies Kagami-no-ike, the mirror pond where visitors float a slip of paper to read a fortune in love. The grounds stay open and cost nothing to enter. It sits south of central Matsue, reached by bus or car, and because the pond stands under trees it pays to arrive while the light holds.
岸公園 島根県松江市袖師町
The stretch of shore where the Lake Shinji sunset scene, filmed in September 2025 and broadcast that December 26, was shot. It is a waterfront park in front of the Shimane Art Museum, with no gate and no fence, so you walk straight in at any hour. The lake opens to the west, the sun drops beyond the water, and the small island of Yomegashima keeps its silhouette out on the surface. Sunset travels a long way through the year, so check the time for the day you go before setting out.
