The real setting of the film's village of elderly residents (around the fictional Hopo substation). The scenes where Beom-seok and Seong-ae fight to protect the villagers from the mysterious creature were shot in the quiet lanes and fields of Namchang.

The coast and hills around Bukpyeong-myeon became the backdrop for the chase beyond the village and the mountain sequences. On the road toward the Wando Bridge, its tidal flats, harbors and the ridges of Duryunsan sit close together, capturing both the film's isolation and its vastness.

제주특별자치도

One of the regions the crew traveled to while capturing the mood of the Hopo Port village. Some of the village scenes were also filmed on Jeju Island. The exact spot has not been made public, so let the film's quiet rural feel guide a slow wander through Jeju's seaside villages.

경남 합천군

One of the film's domestic locations, listed by Cannes on-site reports (JoongAng Ilbo, Wikitree) alongside Haenam, Jeju and Romania as a shooting site for Hope's village scenes. The exact spot within Hapcheon, South Gyeongsang, was not disclosed, but part of the village scenes were shot here.

Retezat National Park, Romania

The Romanian national park behind the film's primal forest. Taken with the untouched woods of the Carpathians, the director staged a large-scale location shoot here. The shot of a white horse galloping through the trees under natural light, filmed at 120 frames per second, came from this place.

Valea Sambetei, Brasov, Romania

The other half of the film's Romania shoot alongside Retezat, a Carpathian valley set in the Fagaras Mountains. Chosen after the director scouted more than twenty forests, the valley hosted two days of drone-assisted action filming.
