The Seoul Metropolitan Library opened in 2012 inside the former Seoul City Hall main building, a 1926 landmark whose original hall and marble staircase were carefully preserved. In the 'Gentleman' video, PSY and his dancers perform the 'arrogant dance' in front of the library's five-meter wall of books and along its tiered, stair-style reading room. It is still a free public library open to all, sitting right on Seoul Plaza across from Deoksugung Palace in the heart of downtown. Between the grand staircase and the stacked shelves, it makes an easy, atmospheric stop for anyone retracing the video's scenes.
