Private Kang Sung-jae pours his heart into cooking, melting away the hardships of army life one meal at a time, and uncovering the secrets hidden behind the mess hall along the way. A military cook-show fantasy comedy about a rookie soldier who becomes a legend.
The seaside road Kang Sung-jae drives on his way to base is Gangneung's Heonhwa-ro, said to run closer to the water than any other coastal road in Korea. The 2km stretch between Geumjin and Simgok ports is the highlight, so park the car and walk right beside the waves, ideally pairing it with a sunrise over the East Sea.

헌화로 금진항 강원특별자치도 강릉시 옥계면 금진리
Heonhwa-ro, running from Geumjin Port in Okgye-myeon to Simgok Port in Gangdong-myeon, Gangneung, Gangwon Province. The coastal drive in which Kang Sung-jae speeds toward his base with the waves of the East Sea right beside him was shot along this road. Often called 'the road that runs closest to the sea in all of Korea,' it has drawn productions such as Signal and Encounter. Park at Geumjin or Simgok Port for a walk, and pair it with the sunrise at nearby Jeongdongjin.
