Tom, a widowed crime writer, turns to the father he has long been estranged from when his eight-year-old son Jake is abducted. His father is a retired police detective, and as the two search for the boy, Tom finds the case tied to a serial killer convicted decades ago, the man known as the Whisper Man. Adam Scott plays Tom, Robert De Niro plays his father, and James Ashcroft directed. Netflix shot the film in New Jersey and names towns including Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, Paterson and Montclair among its locations. It premiered on Netflix on 28 August 2026 and ranked second on Netflix's weekly film chart for South Korea covering 31 August to 6 September.
Garret Mountain Reservation, where Robert De Niro filmed, sits more than 500 feet above sea level, and from the overlook Paterson and the New York City skyline open up in one view. Westwood Diner & Pancake House still serves customers, so stop in for a meal. Wilson Elementary School in Westfield is a working public school, which means you see it from outside the fence.

A park straddling Woodland Park and Paterson in Passaic County, New Jersey, up on First Watchung Mountain. A production photo Netflix released shows Robert De Niro and director James Ashcroft filming here. The crew powered the shoot with mobile batteries rather than diesel generators. Lambert Castle and Lambert Tower, Barbour Pond, an equestrian center and a scenic overlook all sit inside the park. The county's visitor guide says the trail from Lambert Castle to Lambert Tower is closed indefinitely.
