A man falls to his death from a mountain summit, and Hae-jun, the detective assigned to the case, comes face to face with the dead man's wife, Seo-rae. She shows almost no distress, which puts her at the top of the suspect list. Through alibi checks, interrogations and long nights of surveillance, Hae-jun gets to know her, and his professional interest slides into something he cannot name. Seo-rae, meanwhile, knows exactly what he suspects and meets him without a trace of hesitation.
Bunam Beach in Samcheok and Songgwangsa temple in Suncheon are opposite in character, yet both live inside the same film. Bunam is a village beach where sea rocks meet the sand and it opens during daytime only, while at Songgwangsa the Jonggoru bell pavilion is closed to general visitors and can only be looked up at from below, so the closest you get to the screen is walking Uhwagak and Chimgyeru with an umbrella on a rainy day.

The beach where the film's closing scene was shot. A travel feature on the Korea Tourism Organization's Korea Tour site introduces it as the Bunam Beach where the last scene and its rock hill were filmed. It lies 6 to 7 km south of Maengbang Beach, reached by turning off National Route 7 onto the Bunam 2-ri village road. From the stop in front of the Samcheok bus terminal, local bus 23 drops you at Bunam 2-ri, about a 680 m walk from the sand. Samcheok city calls it the most scenic beach in Deokgeun-myeon thanks to the sea rocks scattered along it, and because the village manages the beach it opens during daytime only. The temple where Park Chan-wook shot the rain-soaked scenes. Every Korean report on the shoot names the same spot, the Jonggoru bell pavilion, where Hae-jun and Seo-rae stand facing each other across the dharma drum. The farming daily Nongmin Sinmun maps the rest hall by hall, placing the hand cream moment at Uhwagak, the shared umbrella walk at Chimgyeru, the stair descent on the path to the Gamnotap stupa, and the earphone scene inside the main hall. Two caveats for visitors, Jonggoru is currently closed to the public and can only be looked up at from below, and photography is banned inside the main hall. Songgwangsa is a large monastery on Jogyesan, so walking up in order from the entrance gate toward Daeungbojeon is the easiest way to find the spots.
