One rainy morning the Delgado family, in their suburban Seattle home, find that no door and no window will open. The phones and the internet are dead, and the neighbors are either sealed in as well or stranded outside. Jason, an engineer between jobs, and his wife Ann put the remaining food and power on rations, tear up the living room floor for a vegetable garden, and raise their two children inside four walls. Something that stirs only when it rains keeps circling the house, and over the following years the family invent their own way to stay alive. Directed by Louis Leterrier, with Greta Lee and Wagner Moura as the couple.

This is a film with no location to walk to. The Delgado house, and the neighborhood you glimpse through its windows, were built whole inside soundstages at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England. Leterrier has said the crew put up a full-size house with walls that come away and a ceiling that lifts, then filled it with a real garden, real rain, and real animals. The story is set in suburban Seattle, but the shoot happened mostly in England, and Shepperton is a working facility with no public tours. What you can look for instead is the seam in the image itself, since the first half was shot on 35mm with spherical lenses and the second on digital with anamorphic glass.
