The most photographed vantage points in Antigua Guatemala are along 5th Avenue North (5a Avenida Norte), which runs past the Santa Catalina Arch toward the Cerro de la Cruz overlook — the latter offers a direct line of sight over the city's red-tiled rooftops toward Volcán Agua and is reached by a 15-minute uphill walk from the Central Park. Early morning, roughly between 6:00 and 8:00 a.m., provides the clearest light before afternoon clouds typically build over the surrounding volcanoes. The Central Park and the ruins of the Cathedral of Santiago are within a five-minute walk of each other and can be visited on the same circuit. Entrance to the cathedral ruins costs a small fee (approximately 10 GTQ as of recent reports). Antigua is well connected to Guatemala City's La Aurora International Airport by shuttle services running the roughly 45-kilometer route in under two hours, and regular minibus connections to Panajachel — the main gateway to Lake Atitlán — allow the two filming locations to be combined in a single itinerary.
