Visitor Tips

The main park entrance at 24480 Fern Crescent is accessible via the Dewdney Trunk Road from Maple Ridge. For the densest old-growth forest atmosphere closest to what appears on screen, follow the Lower Falls Trail, which runs approximately 3 kilometres from the Alouette Lake day-use area and stays within the most heavily canopied sections of the park. Early morning visits between 7 and 9 a.m. produce the diffuse, low-contrast light most consistent with the series' visual tone; afternoon light in summer becomes harsh and directional in the open meadow sections. A day-use parking fee applies — check BC Parks for current rates before visiting. The park is open year-round, though the access road to some trailheads closes seasonally; conditions are best confirmed on the BC Parks website ahead of a trip. Combining the visit with the nearby Kanaka Creek Regional Park adds another forested corridor with similar character and is located roughly 15 kilometres southwest.
