Marine Building

The Marine Building is an active commercial office tower, so access to the lobby depends on standard business hours on weekdays; the ground-floor entrance area is generally accessible during working hours without an appointment. The most photographically rewarding vantage point for the exterior is from the northwest corner of Burrard Street and Hastings Street, which places the full decorated facade and entrance canopy in frame. Morning light from the east falls directly on the Burrard Street facade between roughly 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., which is when the terracotta relief work casts the sharpest shadows. The building sits within a short walk of Waterfront Station, served by the SkyTrain Expo, Millennium, and Canada Line services, making it straightforward to combine a visit with nearby Gastown or Canada Place along the waterfront. There is no admission charge to view the exterior or enter the lobby during open hours.
