Riverview Hospital

Access to the Riverview Hospital grounds is managed by BC Housing, which assumed stewardship of the property after closure. As of recent years, portions of the grounds and some heritage buildings are accessible during organized heritage tours and designated open days — confirm current access schedules directly with BC Housing or the Friends of Riverview volunteer group before visiting, as interior access is not consistently available to the public. The exterior grounds along Pine Terrace offer clear sightlines to the Centre Lawn Building facade, which appears in several Supernatural sequences. Morning visits on overcast days reproduce the flat, even light visible in the episodes most faithfully. Riverview is approximately 35 kilometres east of downtown Vancouver via the Trans-Canada Highway, and the nearby Coquitlam Centre SkyTrain station on the Evergreen Extension is roughly 2 kilometres away, making car-free access practical. Combine the visit with Colony Farm Regional Park, which borders the property and offers walking trails through a contrasting open landscape.
