The Shelby story that ran for six television seasons continues as a feature film. It is set in Birmingham during the Second World War, and pulls Tommy Shelby back out of the isolation he chose for himself. After a UK cinema run in March 2026 it went to Netflix.
The film goes back to Birmingham, the home ground of the series. Gas Street Basin is where the city's canals meet, narrowboats still moor there, and the Shelby waterway scenes were shot on that stretch. The bombed street is Little Germany in Bradford. The house where Tommy shuts himself away is Calke Abbey in Derbyshire, run by the National Trust, so check opening days and hours before you set out.

This stands in for a bombed Birmingham street. It is really a Victorian commercial quarter left standing in Bradford, where soot-darkened stone buildings run in rows, which is why period productions keep coming back. Offices and studios occupy it now, so walking the street is enough to put you inside the alley from the screen.
