In 1988, women keep dying one after another in a sleepy rural village. A crime thriller drawing its motif from the real Hwaseong serial murders, it follows a detective and the townsfolk as suspicion tangles around a case that leaves almost no evidence behind. Beneath the still, unchanging rhythm of country life, an air of mistrust slowly rises until no one can be trusted.
The faded shop signs and old brewery streets of Pangyo Village in Seocheon — frozen as if in the 1980s — together with the shuttered former Sosa Police Station, conjure the drama's signature gloomy period atmosphere. Pangyo Village is a preserved town where an entire modern-era streetscape survives, perfect for an unhurried walk; come on a weekday afternoon and you'll catch the full hush of its empty alleys.

Filming Locations
판교마을 서천군 판교면
The 1980s village of 'Gangseong-maeul,' the drama's central stage. Pangyo Village in Seocheon — where faded signs and an old brewery remain intact, as if time had stopped — stands in as its setting.
옛 소사경찰서 부천시
The former Sosa Police Station in Bucheon, appearing as 'Gangseong Police Station' in the drama. Long shut down and held by the city, the building was brought back to life as a 1980s provincial police station.
인주면 들판 아산시
The fields of Inju-myeon in Asan, Chungnam, where the opening shot of a single scarecrow standing alone in the field was filmed. The wide-open plain sets the tone for the viewer's first impression of the show.
