In season 1, episode 3, Yusuke asks Yamamoto, who joined the company in the same year, to help him get into the server room so he can find who was really behind the misdirected transfer, and that conversation takes place at Otemae in front of Matsue Castle. The scene of the two talking over cans of coffee returns as a flashback in season 2, episode 12. Matsue Castle is one of 12 castles in Japan whose original keeps survive, and it was designated a National Treasure in 2015. The Lake Line bus from JR Matsue Station reaches the Otemae stop in 10 minutes.

This is the Nogi family home in the drama. In season 1, episode 5, Nozaki comes looking for the house, and scenes of Yusuke visiting as a high school student and of his parents Taku and Akemi when young were also shot at the Sakurai family residence. In season 2, episode 14, the house appears on Nogi's laptop screen as he rides the Yakumo limited express toward the San'in region. The Sakurai family ran tatara ironmaking in the Edo period. The house, built in 1738, is an Important Cultural Property, and the garden, laid out in 1803, is a national Place of Scenic Beauty. It is closed on Mondays (the following day if Monday is a holiday) and from mid-December to mid-March.

In season 1, episode 9, Yusuke Nogi's parents Taku and Akemi hold their wedding surrounded by relatives, a scene shot at the Kagura-den hall of Izumo Taisha. According to the Shimane tourism federation's VIVANT site, a large crowd of extras took part. The great shimenawa rope hanging on the Kagura-den is among the largest in Japan, 13.6 meters long and weighing 5.2 tonnes. The grounds are open for worship from 6am to 7pm.

一畑薬師 島根県出雲市小境町803

In episode 11, the first of season 2, the ryotei restaurant where Marubishi's president and senior executives dine was shot here. The temple was founded in 894, and its principal image, a statue of Yakushi Nyorai said to have been pulled from the sea in the Heian period, has made it known as the Yakushi of the eyes. The grounds look down over Lake Shinji and Mount Daisen, and the old pilgrim path climbs 1,300 steps. There is no admission fee.

出雲日御碕灯台 島根県出雲市大社町日御碕1478

The shoreline where Nogi talks at length with F in season 2, episode 12 was filmed here, standing in for a coast with a lighthouse in Cyprus. Measuring 43.65 meters from the ground to the top of the tower, it is the tallest lighthouse in Japan. The top is an observation deck, and visitors of junior high school age and up can climb it for 300 yen. Entry pauses for a lunch break from noon to 1pm, and the lighthouse is about 20 minutes by car from Izumo Taisha.

田部家土蔵群 島根県雲南市吉田町吉田

In season 2, episode 14, this is the earthen storehouse where Tojo hides after running away. The Tanabe family began tatara ironmaking here in Yoshida in 1460, and the 20 storehouses lined up in the middle of town show how prosperous those years were. It is 5 minutes by car from the Unnan-Yoshida interchange on the Matsue Expressway, or a 2-minute walk from the Inawara Kobo-mae municipal bus stop.
