A dark-fantasy historical drama set inside a cursed palace called the East Palace. Gu-cheon, a ghost-slayer who crosses between the worlds of the living and the dead and can turn into a ghost to cut down spirits with his sword, teams up with Saeng-gang, a court lady who hears the voices of the deceased. Summoned by the king, the two dig into a vast secret buried within the East Palace across eight episodes.
The palace interiors were built on a set in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi, and that set burned down in late 2024, but everything shot outdoors is still standing. The pond the ghost rises from is Sechul reservoir on Hoseo University's Asan campus, and the temple Gu-cheon lived in is Dosolam at the southern tip of Haenam. The pond wears two completely different faces in cherry blossom season and midsummer, so if you want the show's eerie stillness, go when the leaves hang heavy.

The highlight pond where the ghost rises out of the water. It is Sechul reservoir inside Hoseo University's Asan campus, better known locally for its cherry blossoms and metasequoia path. The gate seen in the show stands at the water's edge for real.

The temple where Gu-cheon lived before he was summoned to the palace. His first appearance in episode 1 and the scenes establishing his power over spirits were shot here. It is a tiny hermitage wedged between rock ridges, and the sunset is the reason to stay.

The night street where Saeng-gang tails someone and Gu-cheon follows her. The alley is the stone-wall lane in front of the Choi family house. Come in daylight and the curve of the wall is unchanged, so the camera angle gives itself away immediately.

The sageuk backdrop shot with production support from Mungyeong city. The gate at Jogokgwan, the walls and the mountain paths of the open set carry the scenes outside the palace. With the Yeoncheon set gone, this is the closest public location to the show's palace mood.

The outdoor sageuk backlot run by MBC. Palace walls, halls, a magistrate's office and a market street sit side by side, and the show used them to widen the scale of its world. It is also the closest stand-in for the palace interiors lost in the set fire.
