Word spreads through the capital that the king of Joseon is dead. Crown Prince Chang, shut out of the palace when he tries to see his father's face, rides south to Dongnae in search of the royal physician, and finds corpses that rise after dark to feed on the living. The plague travels north with the starving. Written by Kim Eun-hee and directed by Kim Seong-hun and Park In-je, this Joseon-era zombie period drama arrived on Netflix in 2019. Six episodes in the first season and six more in the 2020 second season make twelve.
The one photograph to come away with is the throne at the Mungyeong Saejae Open Set. On top of the 2,000-won adult ticket, 3,000 won buys a turn sitting on the royal seat. The set runs to 70,000 square meters and some 130 buildings, from Gwanghwamun to Gyotaejeon, the Eastern Palace and the royal observatory, so no courtyard leaves an empty background. Mungyeong lists two sets with Kingdom seasons 1 and 2 in their filmography, this one and the Gaeun Open Set, and Gaeun is a Goguryeo and Silla fortress, a wholly different texture on camera. Both sit in Mungyeong but in separate townships, so a car is needed between them. The Saejae set closes at 17:00 from November through February and shuts entirely on January 1, Seollal and Chuseok, so in winter it is safer to take Saejae first and move on to Mungyeong Eco World, which never closes.

One of the two sets that Mungyeong's official period-drama location guide lists with Kingdom seasons 1 and 2 in its filmography. It stands inside Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park at 932 Saejae-ro, Mungyeong-eup, where some 130 structures, among them Gwanghwamun, Gyotaejeon, the Eastern Palace, the royal observatory and the palace offices, run along the mountainside across 70,000 square meters. Few sets in Korea let you pace out a Joseon palace at this scale. It opens 09:00 to 18:00 from March through October and 09:00 to 17:00 from November through February, and closes on January 1, Seollal and Chuseok. Admission is 2,000 won for adults, 1,000 won for students and soldiers and 500 won for children, with a separate 3,000 won for sitting on the throne. The other set on the same official list. It sits at 108 Wangneung-gil, Gaeun-eup, inside Mungyeong Eco World, above the monorail. Across 43,999 square meters the grounds split into three lots: Pyongyang Fortress with the Goguryeo and Silla palaces and their villages in the first, Ansiseong and its walled village in the second, Yodongseong and its walled village in the third, adding up to three palaces, 42 tiled-roof houses, 37 dwellings and three fortress walls. It was built for Goguryeo and Silla rather than Joseon, so the pictures here come from the paths along the ramparts rather than from palace courtyards. Mungyeong began repairs in November 2025, mending the walls and rethatching the roofs, and announced the work finished on January 1, 2026. Eco World is open year round; admission is 10,000 won for adults and 5,000 won for Mungyeong residents, and the monorail costs nothing extra.
