을지로 지하도상가 서울 중구 을지로
A central stage of the drama, where Kang Tae-poong and the Typhoon Trading family weave through life. The faded signs and narrow corridors of Euljiro's underground arcade faithfully recreate the world of working-class commerce in the late 1990s.

Where the riverside scenes that carry the characters' emotions were filmed. The roadside lot beneath Dongjak Bridge, spanning the Han River, served as the backdrop for the drama's night cityscapes.

The setting of Episode 14, where the Tae-poong and Mi-seon families finally escape for a summer break. Appearing as the fictional "Sampo Beach," it is a small, crystal-clear hidden cove in Samcheok that opens only in summer, tucked inside a military protection zone.

The Euljiro headquarters of "Typhoon Trading" is in fact this yellow brick building on Gaehangno in Incheon. Converted from a 1960s ENT clinic, it keeps the original reception window, worn floor tiles and steel staircase, and that is where the 1997 atmosphere comes from. The signage and props were struck after filming, but the building runs as a café, so one coffee buys you a slow look around all the way up to the fourth floor roof.

스위스그랜드호텔 서울 서대문구 연희로 353
The polished counterpoint to the shabby Typhoon Trading office, this is where the boardroom and chairman's office scenes were shot. Opened in 1988, the European style hotel lends its marble lobby and heavy lounge to stand in for the weight of a 1990s conglomerate. Non-guests can still walk through the lobby and lounge, which makes it easy to pair with Yeonhui Forest Rest Area in the same district.

In Episode 2, Kang Tae-poong asks Oh Mi-seon out to lunch so he can learn the trade, and the two sit down over tteokguk here. Mirim Bunsik has been serving table-cooked tteokbokki in Sillim-dong since 1988, known for soft rice cakes and an extra portion of chewy jjolmyeon noodles. It was a neighbourhood regular on television long before the drama and still runs as usual, so you can take the same table and order the same thing.

The greenhouse flower garden where Kang Tae-poong raised his plants was filmed here. The Fore is a farm style bakery café run by young farmers, and its glass-walled Leaf House greenhouse is still packed with herbs and flowers, so the conservatory image from the drama survives intact. It sits among the fields of Hyangnam in Hwaseong, easier to reach by car than by public transport, and stays open as a working café.

In Episode 3, the Typhoon Trading staff sit down to breakfast together after saving the Italian fabric through a downpour. The shop is a fixture of more than 40 years near the KBS annex in Yeouido, still in the same spot where it has fed local office workers their morning soup. Its ttaro gukbap arrives with the rice served apart from the broth, and an early visit gets you the same breakfast bustle the scene was built on.

In Episode 7, a cornered Kang Tae-poong and Oh Mi-seon head down to Yeongdo in Busan and work their way out with help from Jang Cha-ran. The stage is Daepyeong-dong, a strip of ship repair yards and marine parts shops named after the "kkang kkang" ring of hammers knocking rust off hulls. It is open today as an art village with murals and a visitor centre, so you can walk the alleys with the sound of the workshops and the quay still around you.

In Episode 4, Kang Tae-poong and Oh Mi-seon's group share a cheerful drink at a beachfront street stall filmed here. The breakwater and the sand behind it carry the night mood of a 1997 Busan harbour. Songdo opened in 1913 as Korea's first public beach and sits close to central Busan, so a walk along the shore after sunset brings the scene's night air back.

The scene in which Kang Tae-poong retraces his memories of his father was filmed here. It is a wooded rest area on the lower slopes of Ansan behind the Seodaemun district office, also known locally for its cherry blossoms. You can walk in from the middle of the city and it is free and open year round, which makes it an easy pairing with Swiss Grand Hotel in the same district.
